Help out this Holiday Season...

United of Way of Lewis County will proudly partner once again with the Lewis County Sheriff's office in coordinating "Shop With A Cop." This is an opportunity for children from disadvantaged circumstances to go Christmas shopping for thier immediate family. Last year, 25 children were paired up with deputies and shopped with money riased by the Lewis County Sheriff's office.

Criteria

¯ Child is between second grade and high school

¯ Family residence is in Lewis County

¯ One child per family

¯ Child has not participated in the past; however, previous applications not selected may be given priority

¯ (Counselors may call the United Way of Lewis County office to verify child’s previous participation.)

¯ Child must to be able to separate from family while shopping

Application Considerations

¯ Children from families who may have negative feelings or mistrust of law enforcement

¯ Children from families with financial need

Schedule Time Line

¯ Application deadline is November 23^rd    

¯ Family notification by December 1^st

¯ “Shop With A Cop” on December 15^th starting at 5 p.m. and concluding at 7 p.m.

A committee will make selections from the applications based on the number of deputies signed up to participate.  To ensure confidentiality where needed, we will contact the person that filled out the application and make arrangements to notify the family of the child. You may send in an application for more than one child, keeping in mind that only one child per family will be selected.
