Chehalis Basin Flood Solution Presentation set for Monday, November 4th at Corbet Theater

As a community leader in Lewis County, you are invited to attend a presentation by Chairman David Burnett, Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation, and J. Vander Stoep, Chehalis attorney, on the state of efforts to find solutions to reduce catastrophic flood damage and fishery enhancement in the Chehalis Basin.

The event, which is hosted by Centralia College and co-hosted by United Way of Lewis County and The Lewis County Economic Development Council, will take place Monday, November 4th from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Corbet Theater on the Centralia College Campus.

Chairman Burnett and Vander Stoep are members of the Governor's Chehalis Basin Work Group. The work group met in 2012 at the request of Governor Gregoire and developed a $28 million funding package that was passed by the 2013 legislature. Underway now, as a result of this funding, is an in-depth planning for flood damage reduction options as well as fishery enhancement.

These issues effect every family and community in our area, and the presentation will explain where the issue is today and where this work is leading.

The event is open to the public and free of charge. Chairman Burnett and Mr. Vander Stoep will give the briefing and take questions from the audience.
