United Way of Lewis County Receives $13,000 grant to sustain Volunteer Lewis program

Recently, the Weyerhaeuser Giving Foundation awarded a $13,000 grant to United Way of Lewis County to sustain their online volunteer hub, Volunteer Lewis. The Volunteer Lewis program (www.volunteerlewis.org) has been in existence since 2013 and provides an online tool for local groups and organizations to post their volunteer needs, advertise their program, and connect with volunteers who are passionate about serving the community. This United Way supported program matches hundreds of volunteers on an annual basis to organizations who rely on volunteers to keep their programs thriving. Volunteers are more critical than ever before for agencies and non-profits. For many organizations, a person willing to give their time is more valuable than money. For individuals who give the gift of their time, the payback is knowing they’ve done what they could to make Lewis County a better place.

"Thank you Weyerhaeuser Foundation for recognizing the importance of the Volunteer Lewis program and by providing United Way of Lewis County with grant funding to continue to provide an easy, accessible way to serve our community by providing a corps of volunteers to fill important community roles, and to provide for its volunteers meaningful opportunities for community service relevant to their skills, abilities and interests," stated Debbie Campbell, Executive Director of United Way of Lewis County.
