Inspire volunteers to move the needle on issues of Education, Income, and Health! Help create real, lasting change in Lewis County as the Volunteer Program Coordinator for United Way of Lewis County!
Through the AmeriCorps* VISTA program, United Way of Lewis County is currently seeking a Volunteer Program Coordinator to start in September of 2013. The Volunteer Program Coordinator will be responsible for collaborating with area nonprofits and service agencies, to help them recruit for open volunteer positions and in-kind items. They will also recruit and support volunteers of all ages in our community, helping to connect them with opportunities and projects that match their interests and generate impact.
Volunteer recruitment will take place through online postings of volunteer positions, as well as through in-person. They must have proficient language and writing skills, as these will be vital in promoting volunteer resources through press releases, web media and events. They must also possess effective grant writing skills. They will take extra measures to engage community members in volunteerism during the holiday season. Finally, they must be proficient in research methods, as they will be investigating proposals for additional volunteer programs, as well as sustainable funding sources.
To be eligible to enroll in AmeriCorps* VISTA and apply for this position, an individual must:
· be a United States citizen, U.S. national, or a permanent resident alien of the United States
· be at least 18 years of age
· pass required criminal history background checks
· be in a position to offer full-time service for one year without regard to regular working hours
· be able to exhibit previous education, training, military, or work experience, and any other relevant skills or interests
· to the maximum extent practicable, be willing to live among and at the economic level of the low-income people served by the project.
