2021 Shop with a Cop Program - Sponsored by the Lewis County Sheriff's Office
Wednesday, December 15, 2021
United Way of Lewis County, for the 20th consecutive year, is partnering with the Lewis County Sheriff’s office in coordinating “Shop with a Cop”. This is an opportunity for children from disadvantaged circumstances to go Christmas shopping for their immediate family.
Last year, over 30 children were paired up with deputies and shopped with money raised by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office Association and a grant received by Walmart.
On December 15th, the selected children will meet at Walmart, pair up with their “cop” and the shopping begins. The child comes with a list of the family members and their ages so appropriate items can be selected. At the conclusion of the shopping, the child rides to the Lewis County Law & Justice Center in a Sheriff’s Office vehicle. With additional help from support staff and volunteers, the gifts will be wrapped. The atmosphere is kept festive and it is a fun-filled evening for all involved.
How can you help?
Share this information with families whose children would benefit from a positive experience with an officer. Shop with a Cop allows the officers to interact with children in an uplifting atmosphere and create a sense of comfort.
DEADLINE TO SIGN UP FOR THE 2021 PROGRAM IS WEDNESDAY, NOV. 24, 2021
